First of all – HI mom & dad & Kait & Jared!! I love you guys and wish you could be here with me! Anyway, here we stand out. When we walk down the street, kids as well as adults point and say “Mazungu, Mazungu!” which means crazy white person. Funny thing? I like being called that. When we get back, I still want to be a crazy white person. Someone who stands out, but not because of the color of my skin, but because like the disciples, I pray it’s obvious I’ve been with Jesus. Megan
God truly has been breaking my heart for what breaks His here. I was talking with Lydia yesterday and she said “I’ve never felt so full and so empty at the same time before.” And I thought of this one little girl I met a school the other day. She ran up and grabbed my hand and stuck by me the whole time and she never stopped smiling or laughing. Then later, the headmaster of the school told me she was HIV positive and an orphan. I was thinking the ONLY way she can be that happy is because of Jesus. It is so evident that He is here with us on this trip, and I love it – and I love YOU! Shelby
p.s. thanks for praying for me. I’ve been feeling lots better
LOTS of walking.
LOTS of praying.
LOTS of singing.
LOTS of dancing.
A whole lot of fun!
Happy Day!! Abby
Hi!! Got a bigger of taste of the culture yesterday and today. One joined our family in Christ. HALLELUIAH!! Tired, yet still can’t get enough of this city. Praying for all back home. Love you bunches! Taylor God is good ALL THE TIME!!!
Hello family!! Please praise God that we have at least one convert! I have a very strange story to tell you when I get home. I’m also able to journal. I miss y’all very much. I love you! Parker Adcock
So….mom and dad….I just thought I’d let you know I’m staying here forever. Anna, I know why you didn’t want to leave. These little kids have captured my heart. They are absolutely adorable!! Kayla
Hi everyone! So Wednesday we ate lunch with the kids at a school and I ate a WHOLE fish!! (like the size of a sardine) for those that know me really well – fish terrify me! I the whole thing!!! It was with the beans and posho. A boy, Keith, joined our family today! Praise God!! We are so glad we will be spending forever with him!! Love you!! Macy
I just want to let you know that I’m doing really good! Chris
Can I just tell you how THANKFUL I am that God picked me to be a part of this wonderful team?!? I love all of your kids so much, and more each day as I see them loving the children here with everything in them. Jesus is giving us His strength to keep pressing on with JOY, even when we are tired…and are challenged in new ways to truly be immersed in this culture. THANK YOU for your prayers for us---keep them coming!! Love to you! Nook
Hey everyone! Let me first say that it’s so great to be back here in Uganda!! I’m loving every second of it! Being able to share with everyone on this trip new Luganda words, and how to say them has been really fun for me. I’m loving how close our group is getting with each other, being able to share and be open with each other!! God is moving in really big ways. Yesterday I was able to talk to a guy named Cyrus. It was fun for me to be able to listen as he told me his life story, why he was at the Save The Street Kids place and what God has done in his life. He was telling me how he writes movies and songs based off his stories and the children that come through. He loves God and wants to do His will. He went on to tell me how hard it was to be a movie/song writer because of how hard it is to get a video camera, but he’s waiting on God to show him exactly what He wants of him. I’m missing all of you so much!! As much as I love it here, I can’t wait to come home and see all of you and tell you all the stories we have! I love you all so much!!! God is so good!!! -Josiah
Hi all you dear parents and anyone else reading this blog.
Well, it seems impossible, but I love your children more every day. God is doing amazing things through them and in them and it’s an incredible joy to watch. I’ve never been a part of such an abandoned group. I so wish I could share some stories, but I have everyone’s lunch and they are back at the hotel waiting….so I just wanted to say hi and let you know everything is really good minus some minor sickness. Please pray for Shannon as she has not felt great this whole trip. But she is such a trooper and keeps going. We are making her take more breaks so hopefully she will get well. I threw up this morning but it’s cuz I didn’t eat enough food with my malaria pill…..silly me. I SOOO wish you could be here to watch your children. You would be so proud. I am video taping every chance I get. We have thousands of stories to tell. My favorite funny one so far is that I smuggled out food from the school where we ate yesterday because we were all having a really hard time eating it – bean and posho with fish with EYES!! I put it in my backpack so we wouldn’t offend….:/ funny memoires!! Gotta go. Love to you all! Clarissa

HA! HA! :) Macy finally ate a fish and it had EYES!!! :s So awesome that Keith joined the family!!! LOVED the update!!! I check to see if there's an update several times a day...always first thing in the morning. I was so excited when I saw an e-mail from Kelly saying there was an update!! WOO-HOO!!! I will be praying for Shannon. So sorry she's been feeling sick but glad she's still able to hang in there. Clarissa, I'll be praying that the malaria pill doesn't make you nauseuous, too. Thank you so much for taking our kids on this Africa trip, girl!!! I love you! May May, Rosie wanted to play "Macy" night before last. :) She said that I would be Macy and she would be the person watching Macy. Basically, what she was saying is that she wanted to watch me pretend to be you playing softball...so I ran around Nana and Poppy's front yard going from "base" to "base" and made a homerun! HA! :) I miss you so much! I love hearing the updates!!! Only a week and 5 days until you come home! I think Charlie Bear is missing you playing with him. It's SO hot and he's been lying in the one muddy spot outside....our air conditioner leaks a little water and he found the spot where it leaks and lies there in it....so he's always muddy even when it's not raining!!! :s Praying for you all the time!!! I love you and miss you so much!!! I am so proud of you! I cannot believe you ate a fish with EYES!!!! HA! :)
Shelby, got your text this morning and called Dad at work. We are both so relieved you are feeling better.
Maybe the little girl at the school will fit nicely into your backpack? She can have Shannon's room as Shannon says she is going to sleep on her trampoline.(today is the big day for her)
Did you eat the fish?!?! Oh my, was it as good as the fish tacos in Mexico?
I have reconnected with an old neighbor/friend of mine through facebook. She now works for Heifer Project. She sent me lots of her picures from a recent trip to Uganda. She loves it there and said the same thing everyone says, "Shelby will never be the same." I am so thankful that you are having this opportunity and so proud of you for listening to God's call on your life to go and share His love.
Tell Shannon P we are praying for her. And Clarissa too. We lift the whole team up every night and day with a general supplication to keep you all healthy ,well and strong but will say a special prayer for those not feeling well.
Thanks for the message. It's does a mom's heart good just to see your words in print.
I love and miss you!!!
Mom <><
Luke...we miss you and are dying to hear how it is going! Please give us more than a sentence! :-)
Shannon (and guys), It is so good to hear from you and get a sense of what you're experiencing. I'm so sorry you don't feel well. On Sunday Charlie Lofton spoke and part of what he said was even though we rae doing what God wants, it doesn't mean there wno't be adversity. THings will go wrong, missionaries will get sick. We are praying you will feel much better. Did you eat the fish with eyes!? We can't wait to hear all about your tiem there. We miss you and love you, 10,000 times. Love, Mom
Parker,
Thank you for the update! I am so excited to hear all the stories. Of course, I am very curious about your strange story. That could be anything! I cried while reading everyone's updates. (I know that doesn't surprise you!)
When people ask about you or how WE are doing, I hesitate to say that I miss you because that sounds like a negative, and I have ONLY positive feelings about you being there. But, I really do miss your big man hugs and your sweet smile and your constant thump, thump, thumping (really, I do!). And, I am very VERY curious to know how your arm is doing. Please let me know about that when you can.
I was happy to read that you are able to journal. God speaks to me most often through my journaling--probably because it takes more time to put my thoughts in writing, and that keeps me still enough to hear from Him. I pray that you are experiencing Him in ways that are fresh and new and that will affect you permanently.
Those little African children must love you. I love watching you with children. Are you having time to take some pictures?
Hug Lacey and Luke and Mommy D and the rest of the team for me. I am very thankful that God called you to this adventure and that you accepted the call and were willing to do WHATEVER it took to go. You worked hard and I am SO proud of you. I love you so, SO much!
Love, Mom
Taylor,
Not sure if your phone is charging or not... Not sure if you're getting my messages. Not even sure how often you all even have time to checks these posts...Please don't forget to take your malaria pill every Thursday (TODAY)!! Good to see everyone's posts and can tell that God is working over there! Trying to focus on that and keep Satan from distracting me with worry:)!! A friend gave me a scripture on Facebook today Prov. 25:25 "Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land." Keep in mind that all of us parents are hanging on EVERY word tht comes through this blog... I know you are are busy and probably dead dog tired from God's work over there. Just be sure to keep us posted so we will know how to bind the enemy and pray SPECIFICALLY for you all!! We love and miss you all and look forward to hearing good news from a VERY distant land:)!!
Mom
Kayla sweetheart,
Dad and I talked it over and decided you must come home to finish high school, and give us hugs..... we really miss those hugs. I bet those little children over there love them. Please take lots of pictures. We would love to see the cute little faces of the children who are stealing your heart. We are proud of you, Kay, and if God calls you to go back to Africa some day, we will be honored to let you go and serve Jesus. Anna asked for money yesterday for a plane ticket so she could go to Uganda to see you. This was right after she said that she didn't miss you very much because she liked sleeping in your bed and wearing your clothes and using your computer...... Both your brothers and your sister miss you, but are also excited for you. Grandpa Graydon and Grandma Connie are also reading these posts, they really love being able to read what you are doing. Don't forget your malaria pill on Sunday, please give Shannon a big hug from us and tell her we are praying she will feel better. We can't wait to hear all about your amazing adventures. Did you eat the fish with eyes? Sounds...interesting. We are praying for you and your team. We love you, sweetheart! Mom
